How do template updates work on Bubble.io?
As you embark on your journey with Societal Labs and Bubble.io, it's important to understand how template updates work within the Bubble platform. Unlike some content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Bubble.io does not currently support over-the-air updates for templates. This has some implications for how you manage updates, new features, and bug fixes for your Societal Labs template.
The Current State of Template Updates
If you're familiar with WordPress, you'll know that theme and plugin developers can push updates over the air. This means that when an update is available, you simply click the update button, and all new features and bug patches are applied without any additional work on your part.
However, as of October 7, 2022, Bubble.io does not operate in this way. When a template update is available, it requires action on the part of the end user. This means that you, as the user, will need to either copy and paste updates from an updated installation or recreate them manually.
What This Means for You
Unfortunately, this means there's no easy way for us at Societal Labs to automatically update your sites when we publish a template update, new feature, or bug fix. When we release an update, we will provide detailed instructions and support to help you implement these changes. However, it will require some manual work on your part to ensure your platform stays up-to-date.
We understand that this might seem inconvenient, and we're hopeful that Bubble.io will introduce a more streamlined update process in the future. In the meantime, we're committed to supporting you through this process and ensuring you have all the information you need to keep your Societal Labs platform running smoothly.
Remember, every update we release is designed to enhance the functionality, efficiency, and user experience of your platform. So, while the update process might require some manual work, the benefits of staying up-to-date far outweigh the effort involved.
